About The Job

Salary: £29,093 to £31,586 per year pro rata

Hours per week: 37

Contract type: Permanent

Are you an ambitious professional with experience in the construction industry and a passion for project management? Luton Council’s Property Design and Delivery Team (PDDT) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support our growing portfolio of construction and development projects. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to shaping Luton’s future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Assist in managing and delivering construction projects, maintaining accuracy in manual and computer-based records.
  • Analyze and interpret large volumes of project data, presenting it in clear and comprehensible formats.
  • Read and understand financial statements and procedures, calculating fees and charges as required.
  • Prepare and present reports and basic presentations to colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Use Microsoft Project (or similar programs) and other software packages to enhance service delivery and track project progress.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, organizing workloads to meet strict and competing deadlines.

About You
Essential Skills and Requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience providing administrative support services, particularly in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of public sector management practices, including financial regulations and procurement processes.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, producing meaningful statistics and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based or bespoke software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly.
  • Understanding of customer care principles and their application in service delivery.
  • Commitment to undertake a Level 6 Project Manager Apprenticeship to further your professional development.
Qualifications
  • 3 A Levels (Grades A-C) or vocational equivalent.
  • Relevant professional qualification in a construction or built environment-related area or equivalent experience (essential).
Other Requirements
  • Willingness to attend evening meetings (up to one per week).
