Background
These three posts provide an exciting opportunity to contribute to both academic scholarship and anatomy provision for a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate students in a top university with a QS World University Subject ranking for Anatomy and Physiology of 36th. The university is situated in the vibrant, multicultural, well‑connected city of Birmingham, which has one of the youngest and most cosmopolitan population profiles in Europe. We are an inclusive city that respects and celebrates our many different cultures, providing a diverse and exhilarating experience for visitors and citizens alike.
The University of Birmingham is proud to have been a part of the city and wider region for over 100 years, and we are equally proud to be recognised as a leading global university. We want to attract talented people from across the city and beyond, support them to succeed, and celebrate their success. We believe that there is no such thing as a typical member of staff and that diversity is a source of strength that underpins the exchange of ideas, innovation, and debate. We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is at the heart of who and what we are, and how we work.
The three posts have differing specific expectations (see below and job description for details), but for all three, applications are invited from medical, dental or anatomy graduates with good clinical or higher education teaching experience and a PhD or equivalent degree, who can contribute strongly to the establishment of our new Birmingham Centre for Anatomy, Surgical and Clinical Skills (BCASCS). All three successful candidates will be involved in teaching topographical, functional and clinical anatomy, neuroanatomy, embryology and histology in a variety of learning environments, providing both teaching expertise and leadership. They will also have responsibilities in varied assessments across our programmes, which include medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physician associate, physiotherapy and biomedical sciences. Additionally, they will be expected to develop scholarship and citizenship activities which contribute to the success of the University.
