Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Payroll Manager on a temporary contract based in Gloucestershire. The appropriate candidate must be available and ready to start ASAP. Assistant Payroll Manager - GL1

£20.98 PAYE or £26.87 UMB


A high-skilled payroll professional to support payroll through the new system go live. Someone with extensive payroll knowledge and experience with dealing with new system implementation.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the teams to process the various payrolls with the ability to cover the BAU processing when needed, such as to cover absence, and act as a point of escalation for any issues with the Team Managers.
  2. Ensure that all deadlines are met for employees to be paid accurately and on time in accordance with statutory legislation and their contracts of employment, as well as complying with Internal audit compliance standards.
  3. Liaise with Finance to complete monthly payroll reconciliations and act as the main contact for GL queries.
  4. Actively keep up to date with relevant regulations/legislation and determine the impact of any changes, updating the wider team, internal policies, and processes where needed.
  5. Actively seek, identify, and implement continuous improvement across payroll.
  6. Assist with internal and external audits in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Assist with the preparation of data for Board reports and KPIs, ensuring that data is easily understood and useful.
  8. Ensure that all process documentation is kept up to date both for internal use and employee guides.
  9. Coach and develop other members of the payroll team, helping them to thrive in their roles.
  10. Ensure our intranet is kept up to date regarding payroll information, deadlines, and FAQs.
  11. Support and cover for the Payroll & Pensions Manager when required.
