Job Description

What will you be doing?

We're seeking a talented individual to join our Business Tax team as an assistant manager in Tunbridge Wells, which is responsible for tax compliance and advisory services for a wide range of business clients. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients. You will also provide assistance primarily to Managers and Senior Managers in supporting with the delivery of client work. You will be involved in special assignments and advisory projects on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive the delivery of advisory and compliance services on a day to day basis
2. Manage client accounts and relationships and provide exceptional client service and be responsible for maintaining regular contact with client team
3. Budgeting and monitoring compliance fees
4. Liaison with more senior members of the team, including Partners and Directors where required
5. Appraisals/monitor staff performance and on the job training/mentoring for junior staff on a one-to-one basis, including technical and procedural matters
6. Ensuring procedures are followed taking account of institute and HMRC guidance, where relevant
7. Ensuring department KPIs are met around billing and recovery targets

Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience

1. Relevant tax experience gained within the profession or industry
2. Technically capable tax adviser who is able to assist in complex client work
3. Some staff management/mentoring/supervisory experience and ability to motivate staff to ensure best performance.
4. Demonstrable ability to organise self and others, such that you can work on several different assignments at one time.
5. Strong communication skills in order to liaise with clients, directors, staff and other professionals.
6. Proven project management skills and evidence of managing a small client portfolio.
