Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About the role...

Are you looking for your next challenge? Do you love finding solutions to problems and adding value?

Our Audit team in Manchester is growing, and we're currently seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to join them on their journey.

About the team...

We pride ourselves on being people-focused. From our Manchester office, our team of over 145 partners and Team Members deliver a first-class service to a diverse range of clients, locally, nationally, and internationally. We are ambitious, growing, and looking for someone who is ready to jump in and get involved.

About the day to day...

You'll be working with Managers to ensure that all assignments achieve the firm's objectives in terms of client service and quality control, while being completed in a commercial and efficient manner. You'll get involved in a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities, including:

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day conduct of audit fieldwork, the drafting of the financial statements, tax computations, and management letters for all assignments allocated.
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships between our audit team and the client's employees.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit planning material.
  • Ensure that you are fully briefed on the requirements of the audit, including any special factors, to ensure full efficiency from the first day of audit fieldwork.
  • Ensure that your assistants are fully briefed on the areas of work allocated to them.
  • Supervise the work of the assistants.
  • Carry out the audit procedures allocated to you and monitor overall progress.
  • Resolve auditing and accounting queries to the extent that you feel able to do so.
  • Make suggestions for amendments to the audit approach as well as improvements for client procedures.
  • Facilitate the completion of the job by ensuring appropriate procedures are complied with.

The role will also be designed to help you grow and develop through your career journey. With access to a wide range of knowledge to help push yourself further - from Managers to Partners, the team is always happy to support you.

About you...

At Cooper Parry, we're in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You'll continuously strive to keep learning - whether you're a trainee or a Partner - and you'll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.

As an Audit Executive, you should have/be:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work away at client premises in various locations.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Approachable with the ability to work as part of a team and offer support and training to less experienced members of the team.
  • Proven experience managing the fieldwork team.
  • Lead by example and instill a sense of professionalism in the audit team.
  • Maintain objectivity, professionalism, and independence in client relationships.
  • Well-researched, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable.
  • Be an advocate of our values.
