Job description

Prior’s Court is a registered charity providing education and residential care for young people with complex autism aged 5-25, helping them to build brighter, more independent futures.

The Role

Are you a part qualified finance professional looking to build your career in the charity sector? This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dedicated finance team, where you’ll play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller. As an Assistant Management Accountant, you’ll contribute to the financial and administrative operations across all entities within the charity, ensuring accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial transactions up to management accounts level.

You will be based in the office for four days a week, with the opportunity to work remotely one day a week upon successful completion of the probation period. Ideally, you’ll be AAT (level 3/4 qualified and eager to continue your studies towards an ACCA or CIMA qualification—with full support from us!

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with finance teams within local authorities (LAs)
  • Liaise with LAs for information to enable invoicing (e.g., POs)
  • Raise/process invoices (fee and adhoc) and credit notes for all entities
  • Manage access to all LA portals
  • Manage aged debt – ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner and any queries are resolved
  • Monthly revenue recognition
  • Balance Sheet postings and reconciliations including fixed assets, aged debtors, deferred income, intercompany transactions and stock
  • Management of Fixed Asset system including acquisitions, disposals and depreciation
  • Produce month end journals
  • Run variance reports and investigate differences
  • Assist the Financial Controller with cash flow forecasting on a monthly basis
  • Ensure revenue is forecasted accurately
  • Monitor bank accounts on a daily basis – income and payments
  • Record bank account movements on Sage
  • Support the Financial Controller in preparation for the year-end audit and group statutory accounts
  • Adhoc analysis as required by Budget Holders, Finance Director or Financial Controller

About You

We are seeking a dedicated and professional team player with a flexible approach to work. The ideal candidate will be AAT Level 3/4 qualified and eager to progress towards a CIMA or ACCA qualification. A minimum of three years’ experience in management accounting and financial processing is required. Strong organisational and analytical skills, a systematic approach to problem-solving, and the ability to produce highly detailed work within strict deadlines are essential for success in this interesting and diverse role.
