Job description

RECfinancial is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Management Accountant to join a well-established and highly regarded Leicester-based organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to develop their accounting career within a dynamic and supportive finance team.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient processing, and the smooth running of daily financial operations.

This role offers the chance to be part of a personable and highly capable finance team, with direct mentorship from an experienced and supportive Finance Manager.

Main Responsibilities of the Assistant Management Accountant role:

  1. Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reports for all departments.
  2. Prepare and update the Management accounts for two smaller businesses, including commentary and KPIs.
  3. Completing accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  4. Project reporting.
  5. Update the fixed asset register with additions & disposals.
  6. Reconciling Balance Sheet Control Accounts.
  7. Monthly Prepayments & Accruals - Obtain backing, update schedule & post journal.
  8. Bank Reconciliation.
  9. Posting the Cashbook to the Accounting System.
  10. Prepare and process journals.
  11. Producing weekly and monthly sales data and profit and loss accounts.
  12. Assist in the Year End process.
  13. Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  14. Assist in the preparation of annual financial plans and audits.
  15. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  16. Provide support & cover to the Finance Team.

Skills and experience:

  1. Part Qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
  2. Proven experience in management accounting or financial analysis.
  3. Experience in Balance Sheet Account Preparation.
  4. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  5. Able to organise own workload.
  6. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficiency in accounting software: Xero, Excel - pivots, look-ups and macros.
