Assistant Hospitality Manager - Permanent

£15.50 per hour, 40 hours per week

KYN is a brand-new care home company focused on offering an elevated approach to care: Individualised journeys built around the needs and interests of our residents in beautiful surroundings with life-enriching practices.

Our first home, KYN BICKLEY, opened in February 2023. KYN BICKLEY is an 86-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining; and inviting outdoor terraces overlooking landscaped gardens bordered by woodland. We have a further three care homes in development in London.

About the opportunity:

As an Assistant Hospitality Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Hospitality Manager in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere
  • Assisting the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in implementing a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents
  • Leading from the front in an operational and hands-on role
  • Delivering a five-star hospitality service to residents and their family members
  • Managing the bar and waiting team to provide high-quality service
  • Completing audits, stock and rota management
  • Ensuring health and safety/food safety standards are adhered to
  • Building relationships with residents and understanding their individual needs
  • Being accommodating and flexible to the requests of residents and their families
  • Ensuring compliance with the KYN allergen policy and associated legislation
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing hospitality service standards
  • Responding to resident complaints quickly and professionally
  • Ensuring adherence to KYN's Complaint Policy and Procedure
  • Pre-empting signs of dissatisfaction and resolving issues
  • Maintaining hospitality sections/areas in line with company standards
  • Seeking verbal feedback from residents and relatives
  • Writing team rotas with management approval
  • Ordering and accepting deliveries per company policy
  • Adhering to cleaning standards
  • Managing administration and paperwork as set by KYN
  • Maintaining brand standards as per the Brand Standards Manual
  • Achieving company standards on financial audits
  • Recognising and rewarding excellent performance within the Hospitality Team
  • Assisting in team appraisals and action plans
  • Planning and organising team meetings
  • Communicating important company information to the team
  • Assisting with recruitment and selection as needed
  • Supporting on-job training requirements
  • Monitoring compliance with mandatory training
  • Conducting annual appraisals and PDPs with the team
  • Taking responsibility for personal development and career paths
  • Providing hands-on support to hospitality teams
  • Building relationships between the Kitchen team and front of house team
  • Implementing budget, margin, and labour controls
  • Ensuring end of day and banking procedures are completed
  • Interpreting KYN and brand objectives and finding opportunities to achieve them
  • Managing Beverage stock in line with KYN's policy
  • Deputising in the Hospitality Manager's absence
  • Serving alcohol responsibly
  • Complying with KYN's dress code
  • Ensuring health and safety of self, team members, residents, and visitors
  • Reporting hazards or potential hazards
  • Complying with COSHH regulations
  • Attending statutory training sessions
  • Adhering to all KYN's policies and procedures

About you:

  • Experience in a similar role within a care home or 4-5-star hospitality venue
  • Proven history of delivering and maintaining high standards
  • Experience managing Hospitality systems
  • Confident individual with a hands-on approach
  • Experience implementing allergens, Health & Safety/COSHH procedures
  • Observant with the ability to anticipate residents' needs
  • Organised with strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibly
  • Compassionate and empathetic individual
  • Good financial understanding and ability to follow processes accurately
