Job Title: Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for SEND & Inclusion

Salary: Up to £53,000.00 per annum

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development to join our close-knit team at New Barn School, part of Acorn Education.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to lead on SEND and Inclusion.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with pupils with special educational needs such as Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH). You will be expected to create a culture that enables all learners and staff to excel. You will understand principles of curriculum design and quality assurance processes and will be a driving force in further moulding our curriculum at New Barn School.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To assist the Headteacher in ensuring the achievement of the highest possible educational standards and attainment, through design and delivery of an outstanding, comprehensive and engaging personal development programme across the school.
  2. This will be achieved through the strategic and operational leadership of the core areas of:
  3. Careers and Work Experience
  4. Enrichment, Trips and Visits
  5. PSHE
  6. Pupil Voice
  7. Staff training on personal development
  8. As a senior leader, modelling outstanding practice in the classroom is paramount to the role.
  9. Visible leadership through school duties, behaviours support, stakeholder engagement.

New Barn School offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6 – 19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities.
