Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - SENCo

Location: Oakfield House School, Salwick PR4 0YH

Salary: Up to GBP43,000.00 per annum dependent on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher - SENCo to join our close-knit team at Oakfield House School, part of Options Autism.

About the Role

The Assistant Head for SENCO will have overall responsibility for the strategic development of the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy, including oversight of the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising all students' attainment and achievement.

The Assistant Head Teacher will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, assist the Executive Head Teacher and Head of School in leading and managing the school and undertake such duties as are delegated by the Executive Head Teacher or Head of School.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Qualified teacher with QTS/QTLS
  • National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators or a willingness to work towards
  • Evidence of continuing and recent further professional development and qualifications relevant to the post
  • Evidence of being an experienced and effective class teacher through excellent teaching practice

We are looking for a candidate who embodies the following qualities:

  • Demonstrates good classroom and behaviour management.
  • Ability to lead workshops, staff meetings and INSET.
  • Experience of being a SENCo in an ASD school.
  • Experience of working with young people from challenging backgrounds.
  • The courage and conviction to make a difference.
  • The ability to listen and communicate effectively.

Oakfield House School is a specialist Primary School for autistic pupils and those associated with Autism/Learning or Complex Communication and Behaviour needs. The school has a strong and committed leadership team. Our school is a country house built in the 1880s, set in eight acres of beautiful parkland.

We cater for 45 boys and girls aged between 4 - 12 years old.

The site is situated in Salwick near Preston and is within commutable distance from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland and surrounding areas.

For over 16 years, Options Autism has provided care and education to pupils and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
