Assistant Head of Year (Non Teaching)

Location: Nottingham, NG6

Salary: £24,000 - £27,000 per annum

Days: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Fixed Term until End of Summer Term 2025 - with potential to go permanent

A secondary school in Nottingham is looking to appoint a motivated and passionate Head of Year (non-teaching) to provide all-round support across a multitude of areas for students within their year cohort. You will act as a point of contact for all pastoral communication for parents/carers and outside agencies. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of behaviour, attendance & engagement with learning are met.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Provide guidance on learning, health, and safety matters.
2. Offer comprehensive support to promote students' physical and mental well-being.
3. Act as a liaison between the Year team and external organisations.
4. Ensure adherence to child protection policies and safeguarding procedures.
5. Serve as the primary point of contact for staff referrals regarding behavioural issues.
6. Collect, collate, and follow up on incident reports and student statements.
7. Address and mediate student relationship conflicts to find resolutions.
8. Manage, distribute, and track report cards for assigned students.
9. Monitor bullying incidents and enforce appropriate policies and interventions.
10. Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain communication with parents.
11. Address attendance concerns by contacting parents and conducting home visits when needed.
12. Serve as the main contact for parents, managing inquiries and referring them to relevant staff when necessary.
13. Implement and monitor attendance improvement strategies and sanctions.
14. Coordinate the setting and collection of work for students who are excluded or absent.
15. Schedule parental meetings, including those with Heads of Year or Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
16. Assist with student admissions, working closely with the Head of Year.
17. Organise Year Group Assemblies and support school-wide assemblies and presentations.
