Assistant Financial Controller

Location: Stroud, Gloucestershire
Hours: Permanent, Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)

Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 per annum

Our client is looking for a driven and highly skilled qualified accountant to take on the role of Assistant Financial Controller within a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial management and commercial support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the senior management team to help achieve financial and growth objectives.
  2. Prepare and submit monthly management accounts and reports within agreed deadlines.
  3. Analyse and present key financial data to support decision-making across commercial and operational areas.
  4. Oversee working capital management and implement initiatives to improve efficiency.
  5. Lead the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  6. Manage year-end financial reporting and liaise with external auditors.
  7. Prepare statutory accounts and handle various statutory returns.
  8. Ensure the integrity of all financial data reported within the business.
  9. Support the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll teams to ensure smooth operations.
  10. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and insurance reporting.
  11. Work with Internal Audit on any queries or issues related to the business.
  12. Contribute to systems and process improvements.
  13. Maintain high standards of internal controls and financial support services.
  14. Participate in ad hoc projects as required by the business.

Key Skills:
  1. ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified, with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
  2. Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  4. A team player who can work collaboratively across functions.
  5. Capable of managing multiple priorities and working effectively in a dynamic environment.
  6. Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong IT skills.
  7. Experience with Sage and SAP is beneficial.
