Assistant Financial Accountant

12 Month FTC

The Financial Accounting team's primary responsibilities include month-end Group reporting. The team are also responsible for ensuring that all external audits run smoothly and on time. Further responsibilities include ensuring statutory financial statements and associated Corporation Tax returns are filed on a timely basis for a number of European markets.

Who we're looking for:

We're seeking a motivated individual with some experience in financial accounting, either AAT or finance related degree qualified, who is looking to apply their financial accounting skills to support a number of month-end reporting processes, and develop their business knowledge of areas like Tax, Treasury and Audit.

What you will be doing:

Fixed assets:

• Coordinate and perform monthly creation, maintenance and impairment of fixed asset for several markets.
• Liaise with Finance Business Partners to ensure that the appropriate capex orders are created as fixed assets. This involves ensuring the Finance Business Partners have adhered to the fixed asset policy within the Group Finance manual and can involve reviewing and challenging those responsible that have not adhered to the policy.
• Month end - perform month end fixed asset depreciation run by WD1 and fixed asset reconciliation by WD2 for all EMEA markets.
• Year end - perform the fixed asset opening of the new fiscal year and closure of the previous FY for all the EMEA company codes.
• Quarterly fixed asset register reviews with finance managers and facilities teams.

Group Accounting:

• Maintain fixed assets register and depreciation within the Group entity.
• Review and post the treasury prepayments journals.
• Review and post the treasury bank statement and reconciliation.
• Support the Financial Accountant with the preparation and review of the London office costs and Enabling functions costs reports to ensure that actuals costs and variances to forecast are understood.
• Adhere to month end deadlines to produce balance sheet analysis and cost information on a timely and accurate basis.
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliation and review with those responsible.

Statutory Accounting:

• Support the Financial Accountant with financial statements preparation for multiple EMEA entities.

Tax support:

• VAT - support with the run of all VAT reports and processes.
• Ensure training of other team members is kept up to date.

Bank Administration:

• Set up of new users and maintenance of current users and information in all online banking systems.
• Ensure relevant controls are in place when setting up new users and removing leavers.
• Building and maintaining relationships with key contacts at the banks.
• Providing training for approvers.
• Quarterly reviews of current users login status.
• Treasury - assist Treasury with the updates of bank mandates and help to coordinate banking projects/changes.

Other:

• Audit - Liaise with External and Internal Auditors to provide relevant documentation when needed.
• Provide resource to support other parts of the Business when needed.
• GB fixed asset survey - complete the quarterly acquisitions and disposals of capital assets survey for GB01 for the Office for National Statistics.

What we are looking for from you:

• Experience of an ERP system e.g. SAP FICO or similar.
• Accounting Qualification to AAT as a minimum.
• Knowledge of Bank Mandates & Banking systems controls.
• Experience in creation of Statutory Financial Statements.
