Job description

Assistant Finance Manager £34,000 - £38,000

Labman are seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active, Assistant Finance Manager to join our dynamic workforce at our globally recognised and multi-award-winning company. Headquartered in North Yorkshire, specialising in design and manufacture of bespoke laboratory automation systems and products for a diverse range of industries worldwide.

What you will do:

  1. Maintain Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) ledger control and providing accurate reporting to the finance manager.
  2. Prepare and process monthly BACS payment information.
  3. Investigate and resolve account discrepancies by liaising with suppliers and internal teams.
  4. Generate and issue sales invoices promptly and accurately.
  5. Conduct credit control activities as required.
  6. Post entries to and reconcile cash book and associated postings in Sage Intacct.
  7. Review and process monthly credit card statements efficiently.
  8. Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate monthly Fixed Asset Reporting.
  9. Control general prepayments and accruals, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  10. Allocate and process invoices through Yooz and Sage Intacct as needed.
  11. Maintain historical financial records by organizing and filing purchase ledger and other finance documents.
  12. Process the VAT return with various analysis and reconciliation to prime documents and legislation.
  13. Assist with overseeing the day to day running of the finance team and report into the Finance Manager.
  14. Various other accounting and administrative duties as required.

Essential Capabilities

  1. AAT qualified.
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance role within a manufacturing or commercial environment.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including strong analytical and reporting skills).
  4. Strong numerical and verbal reasoning abilities with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  5. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  6. Excellent communication skills across all levels, with strong written and verbal abilities.
  7. Solid understanding of internal controls and their implementation.
  8. Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritise workloads.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  1. Working knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar would be an advantage.
  2. Experience presenting to senior management.
