Commercial Finance team

Our Commercial Finance team is at the heart of the business, creating persuasive insights and analysis that are critical in defining our strategy and maximizing our commercial and financial achievements. We work collaboratively across different teams to provide first-class business partnering, assessing company performance, appraising opportunities, and managing challenges.

About the role

The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing and presenting influential financial analysis to the commercial sales team. As a key member of the Commercial Finance team, you will help drive revenue growth while working closely with our shared services team to maintain a strong control environment.

We will support you through a 3-year program to complete the CIMA professional accounting qualification alongside your role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Business partner in a pro-active, commercially astute manner - develop expertise in relevant business areas, understanding key performance drivers and industry context; build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, and support and advise on commercial opportunities and issues.
  • Explore and analyse data, extracting valuable insights to enable informed decision making - proactively explore data, evaluate financial performance, and analyse key performance metrics to support the delivery of in-year targets. Identify, evaluate, and drive actions on risks and opportunities.
  • Drive the evolution of management information and analysis - monitor and deliver high quality, timely management information; partner with our Business Intelligence Unit to drive improvements to management information and business intelligence tools.
  • Take ownership of budgets, forecasts, and business plans - provide financial leadership and analytical support to help shape business activity at a strategic and operational level; model scenarios, advise on key assumptions and trade-offs and support the alignment of resources to strategic priorities; drive the simplification and automation of financial modelling.
  • Deliver/ review the monthly close; drive continuous improvement of processes, data integrity & strong financial control - work with data source owners to ensure that key data is accurate, automated, and timely; work with the Shared Service Function to deliver accurate management accounts and month-end reports; monitor and improve the integrity of financial processes and the operation of an effective internal control framework.
About you

This role is suited to individuals looking to start a successful finance career in an industry leading company while completing their professional finance qualification.

Relevant experience and qualifications include:
  • Educated to university level with a bachelor's degree.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically strong competency using Microsoft Excel.
  • Naturally inquisitive, with high quality analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form strong relationships to challenge and influence assertively and cooperatively.
  • Action-oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines managing different stakeholders.
  • Think innovatively and drive change.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to constantly learn and develop.
  • Effective time management to deliver self-started work and process improvements.
  • Flexible and comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A team player willing to deliver beyond their personal brief.
