About the company:

Our client is a well-established construction firm that specializes in high-end residential, commercial, and other unique projects. Their expertise extends to property renovations, extensions, and refurbishments, including work on heritage-listed buildings.

About the opportunity:

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team and take on the following responsibilities:

  • Quantity Take-Offs: Accurately extract material, labour, and equipment quantities from project drawings and specifications.
  • Cost Research & BOQ Preparation: Gather cost data on materials, labour, and subcontractors while preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for estimating and tendering.
  • Bid & Documentation Support: Assist in bid preparation, compiling cost estimates, and maintaining accurate cost records.
  • Data Analysis & Cost Control: Analyse pricing data, exchange rates, and company costs while monitoring project budgets for potential overruns.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Liaise with estimators, engineers, and suppliers to gather essential project information.
  • Software & Technical Proficiency: Utilize estimating software, Excel, and other tools to streamline cost calculations and documentation.
  • Site Visits & Risk Assessment: Attend pre-tender meetings, conduct site surveys, and support risk identification to ensure accurate budgeting.

About the benefits and rewards:

The salary will be dependent on the level of exposure to the residential industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and a basic salary in the region of up to £80k DOE. In addition to the basic salary, there will be further company benefits.

About the requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2-4 years in estimating, quantity surveying, or construction-related roles.
  • Understanding of construction materials, methods, contracts, and cost estimation.
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, ConQuest) and Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Strong attention to detail in quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
  • Ability to collaborate with estimators, engineers, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and attend site visits as required.
