The reservoir is an environmentally-led project that will help to safeguard internationally-rare rivers in Hampshire by providing an alternative, sustainable source of water.

It will be the first new reservoir to be built in the South East since the 1970s and is being developed in collaboration with Southern Water, who are funding the project which sits at £340m (with scope and value increasing).

The project will be mainly delivered through a main reservoir contract and two pipeline contracts, with some additional related contracts. The candidates will join the existing project office working directly with the FutureWater joint venture and other project partners. The project is due to run until at least 2030 with extensions expected.

The role will report directly into a Lead Engineer.

  • Take minutes for the weekly meetings with PW Operations to discuss, answer and resolve outstanding queries and issues.
  • Take minutes and engage in technical workshops between PW Operations, mains works contractors and the Design Guardian to ensure alignment and buy-in of proposed solutions.
  • Attend regular meetings with the HTR Engineering Team.
  • Work with the Portsmouth Water project team to help assist in the creation of discrete scopes of work for instruction to the Design Guardian.
  • Assist the Lead Engineer to ensure that the design review process is managed successfully for all design packages.
  • Track the responses to Technical Queries raised by the main works contractors and involve the Panel of Experts and Design Guardian as required.
