Job description

North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence, and we are looking for SEND Assistant EHC Caseworkers in Harrogate, Scarborough, Ryedale, Hambleton and Richmond. Please state on your application which area you would be interested in working in.

The Directorate has established an Integrated SEND Service (0-25) to provide an improved experience for children and young people with SEND and their families, including pathways and key points for assessment and decision making.

This is an exciting time to join the SEND service, we are excited to launch this new opportunity to work as an Assistant EHC Caseworker. In this role, you will work closely with and report to Casework Officers and Casework Managers.

The role will be to maintain a caseload of identified young people and provide a professional, effective, and supportive service to parents of children who are undergoing assessments. You will implement statutory duties and have an understanding of the Children and Families Act (2014) and procedures relating to the statutory review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities as specified in the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice (2015).

You will update education, health, and care plans following reviews, as well as organise, attend, and contribute to meetings and discuss specific issues associated with the needs and provisions of individual pupils.

We need you to have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a professional, effective, and responsive manner and have excellent organisational skills to enable you to carry out the role to a high standard.
