United by timeless style and peerless service, the Montcalm
Collection is London’s compendium of luxury hotels. Housed in elegant Georgian
townhouses, an 18th-century brewery, heritage headquarters and a diamond-shaped
skyscraper, each hotel reveals a different chapter in the city’s story.
Architecture and style may change, but classic hospitality stands the test of
time: expect an enduring welcome from our team. We are proud of our past, but
even more excited for our future.

Discover the hotels in the collection. Our historic brewery, reimagined as a
vibrant modern hotel: The Montcalm At The Brewery. Our Georgian charmer with an
artful modern spirit: The Montcalm Mayfair. Our storied city-slicker,
housed in the former headquarters of the Royal Mail: The Montcalm Royal London
House. Our duo of mindful hotels which set a slower pace: Inhabit Southwick
Street and Inhabit Queen’s Gardens.

Position Overview: As the Assistant Director of
Finance at Montcalm Collection you will oversee and guide the financial
operations across our group of hotels in London. Reporting to the Director of
Finance, this role focuses on providing strategic oversight, ensuring financial
accuracy, and fostering a culture of strong financial performance and
compliance. The ideal candidate will combine leadership skills with a hands-on
ability to mentor and inspire a team while delivering insightful financial
support to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Supervise and monitor day-to-day financial
operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger
activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all areas.
  2. Provide high-level oversight and support for a
team of accounting professionals, ensuring the timely delivery of financial
accounts and operational finance guidance to the hotels.
  3. Offer financial advice and strategic support to
stakeholders and hotel managers to aid in decision-making and business
    planning.
  4. Maintain and enforce a rigorous financial
control and reporting environment, ensuring adherence to internal policies and
    regulatory requirements.
  5. Review and approve consolidated management
accounts, offering feedback and guidance to the team to maintain accuracy and
    reliability.
  6. Chair weekly credit and payroll review meetings,
collaborating with hotel managers and management accountants to align on
    priorities and ensure compliance.
  7. Oversee the preparation of detailed hotel
forecasts, cultivating a culture of precision in expense and payroll tracking
to ensure profit objectives are met.
  8. Support the Director of Finance in shaping
financial SOPs and ensuring their effective implementation across the organisation.
  9. Regularly assess and enhance financial control
procedures to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
  10. Supervise month-end and year-end closing
processes, ensuring all intercompany accounts are reconciled and discrepancies
    resolved promptly.
  11. Lead regular Balance Sheet reviews, ensuring
accounts are supported by proper backups, variances are explained, and findings
are communicated to the Director of Finance.
  12. Champion the development of management
accountants through mentorship and performance reviews, fostering a
    high-performing and collaborative team environment.
  13. Build strong relationships with the Senior
Leadership team, providing financial expertise to influence and support key
    decisions.
  14. Serve as the system administrator for accounting
systems, ensuring smooth operation and updates as needed.
  15. Facilitate monthly finance meetings with
management accountants to discuss progress, challenges, and strategic
    priorities.
  16. Oversee the budgeting process, ensuring timely
and accurate completion in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  17. Ensure compliance with Finance SOPs by
maintaining a robust internal control framework.
  18. Direct and support the annual audit process for
    all hotels.
  19. Provide high-level supervision of Capex
reconciliations across the portfolio, addressing any anomalies or opportunities
    for improvement.
  20. Oversee the timely preparation and filing of VAT
    returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:

  1. A relevant hospitality finance qualification or
part-qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) or qualified-by-experience.
  2. Extensive experience in financial management,
with at least 3 years in a supervisory role, ideally within the hospitality
    industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of financial reporting,
    controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
  4. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills,
with a proven ability to manage and inspire teams.
  5. Proficiency in financial management systems.
Knowledge of Sage Intact, Adaco and Opera is a plus.
  6. Adept at balancing strategic priorities with
