Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Assistant Director of Digital Services to lead our digital transformation initiatives and enhance service delivery through technology. You will provide leadership and strategic direction to drive continuous improvement in NHS Ayrshire & Arran, with a focus on digital innovation, supporting the delivery of safer, more sustainable, and integrated modern health and social care services.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Champion digital innovation by identifying and implementing emerging technologies that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and workforce productivity.
  2. Develop and implement a Digital Strategy that aligns with national NHS priorities and drives transformational change, ensuring digital initiatives are effectively executed and embedded into long-term service delivery.
  3. Drive a culture of digital adoption by engaging with staff, clinicians, and stakeholders to ensure digital solutions are effectively embedded into everyday practice.
  4. Provide strong leadership and professional development for the digital team, fostering a high-performance culture, building digital capability, and ensuring the team is equipped to deliver innovative and effective digital solutions.
  5. Ensure robust data governance and cybersecurity measures are in place, balancing accessibility with the highest standards of security and compliance.
  6. Represent NHS Ayrshire & Arran in national and regional digital health forums, influencing policy and best practice in digital healthcare.

Key skills and experience:

  1. Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Management training and development / record of continuous development.
  3. 5-10 years management experience including direct management of teams of technical digital staff either within the NHS or similar large and complex organisation.
  4. Track record of successfully delivering major digital projects / programmes.

Additional information:

  1. Hybrid working. This role offers flexibility within a mix of office-based and remote work.
  2. 37 hours per week.
