Job description

At Turley we are trusted independent advisors working collaboratively with our clients to shape a more sustainable future. We operate nationally across the UK and Ireland, and are looking for an energetic and eager Assistant Consultant to join our Strategic Communications team in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic, diverse and friendly team which is growing its presence and workload in Manchester. Turley Strategic Communications focuses on engaging people creatively, and mediating their influence positively within policy, planning and place-making processes.

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Consultant with a passion for communications, politics and people. In this role you will assist our team serving in Manchester, as well as the national Strategic Communications team in:

  • planning and executing communications campaigns to assist with development proposals, regeneration and corporate affairs objectives including social value work;
  • preparing for, attending and assisting with online and in-person public consultation events;
  • drafting external collateral including writing press releases, social media campaign content and briefing papers;
  • undertaking political and media research and monitoring; and evaluating and reporting on campaigns and consultation activity.

About you

The ideal candidate will be flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude and hold a relevant degree or have relevant previous experience in communications or a consultancy role within a professional services environment (preferred but not essential). You would have a demonstrable interest in communications, politics and a passion for engaging with people. Your administrative skills should be at an exceptional level and cover a wide range of experiences. What is important is your ability to learn quickly and to develop relationships whilst working within a highly professional team.

We combine professional expertise with in-depth market knowledge and deploy our services — Design, Economics, Environmental Impact Assessment, Expert Witness, Heritage, Townscape and Landscape, Planning, Strategic Communications, and Sustainability and ESG — individually or collectively to meet client needs in the most effective way.

We offer excellent remuneration and a flexible benefits package including Life assurance and Group income protection, pension, flexible working allowance, ownership dividend and performance-related bonus.

Turley operates a blended flexible working model, allowing co-owners choice, freedom, and flexibility as to where, when and how they work, balancing personal, team and client requirements. We are happy to talk about flexible working options in more detail during the recruitment process.

We are dedicated to ensuring people, places and the planet can thrive.

Our aim is to be an even more diverse and inclusive company; we celebrate difference and we're actively building more diverse teams. We welcome applications from candidates regardless of background and personal circumstances who meet the criteria set out above. We welcome applications directly and would prefer not to receive CVs from recruitment agencies.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
