About you
As an Assistant Clerk of Works, your role will involve assisting in the inspection of construction work to ensure adherence to standards of quality, compliance & consistency. You'll be working from sites amongst a cross-discipline team of professionals.
What does the role involve
- Assist with the inspection of construction work and ensure adherence to building standards, manufacturers recommendations, drawings and specifications.
- Assist in measuring and conducting quality checks on building materials, ensuring their consistency to approved drawings, specifications, and technical data.
- Conduct inspections, identifying snags and defects and supporting management in effectively resolving them to ensure successful completion.
- Assist in monitoring progress and ensuring quality standards are met, while also preparing timely reports for all relevant stakeholders.
- Consolidate comprehensive records of work, including photographs, to document progress, quality, compliance, snags, defects, and health & safety considerations.
- Learning to use Field View and executing the above functions using the Field View software provided.
- Prepare reports as required during the projects, capturing site conditions, progress, compliance, quality, health and safety standards and positive elements of the works.
- Communicating clearly and comprehensively and ensuring that the how, why, what, where and when is included in your communication.
- Assist with verifying compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, legal requirements and ecological standards.
- Be proactive in your inspections and observations, raising concerns of any nature whether it be health and safety compliance or a construction element.
- Working on construction sites, sometimes on multiple construction sites.
- Taking personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by working within the Health and Safety policy and procedures.
- Endeavouring to improve our social and environmental impact.
- Any other duties as reasonably required of my role.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong technical knowledge of building and construction.
- Highly organised with strong time management.
- Ability to analyse quality and performance.
- Ability to competently support team members.
- Reasonable competence in the use of a computer or hand-held device.
- Thoroughness and attentiveness to detail.
- Analytical thinking skills and mathematical competence.
- Confident and approachable with customer service skills.
- Ability to use your initiative, but also the awareness to verify with others when appropriate.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
