ASP are an innovative and progressive force, with a vision and five-year plan to deliver outstanding policing for everyone. Are you ready to join us on our journey to outstanding policing?
We’re a values driven organisation and we’re seeking an Assistant Chief Constable who shares those values, and who brings their own individual strengths and difference to take us forward. We’re caring, courageous, inclusive and dedicated to learning.
You’ll be responsible for serving a population of more than 1.7 million people, across a geographically varied and multi-cultural area, which brings both challenges and great rewards. Our leaders make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of the public we serve. You will join a successful chief officer team who are committed to delivering high levels of performance and public satisfaction.
Our people are critical in achieving outstanding policing. There are over 6000 colleagues working for ASP – police officers, staff and volunteers committed to making a difference for the public we serve. We recognise that our leaders have an essential role in showing that we care for our people. We need leaders who demonstrate our caring value through championing wellbeing, empowering and developing others and role modelling allyship for a more inclusive culture.
Avon and Somerset Police has gained a reputation as a pioneering and innovative force. At the forefront of technology, we’re going through a time of rapid change, and with the support of our workforce, partner agencies and community, we are transforming the organisation for the future.
We take a courageous and learning approach to innovation which is at the heart of what we do. We’re always searching for new ways to help our people perform at their best, whether that is through the latest technology, pioneering different approaches or training and personal development.
One of our key values is inclusivity. We value the difference in perspective our people bring, and we work together with our colleagues to ensure they reach their potential. We see individuality as a strength and we’re looking for someone with the courage to be themselves, do the right thing on a difficult day and empower our people to do the same. Importantly, you will have a strong commitment to and the highest respect for diversity amongst your colleagues and the communities you serve.
You will develop and implement effective strategies and policies and take command of policing and operational matters as and when required, including as a member of the Gold Command rota.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced senior police officers for the post of Assistant Chief Constable.
Applicants must have passed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre and successfully completed the Strategic Command Course or be currently enrolled on the Executive Leadership Programme.
If you have been successful to commence the Executive Leadership Programme and you apply for this vacancy and are successful, then you will be appointed temporary whilst undertaking the programme. At successful completion of the course, you will then be promoted permanently.
