Assistant Catering Manager - Churchill Catering part of Vertas Group Limited
Exciting new opportunity available to work in the picturesque Glentress Forest Café.
We are looking for an Assistant Catering Manager to join us at The Glentress Forest Café near Peebles. This will be a hands-on role, with a focus on customer service and supporting the Catering Manager in leading an already established and motivated team.
Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and as an Assistant Catering Manager, you will support to drive excellent customer service, innovation, ensure food safety compliance is being met and utilise your leadership skills to motivate the team.
As part of this role you will lead on time management skills, be able to liaise at stakeholder level, promote sustainability and provide suitable line management development with the team supporting the Catering Manager's objectives and targets.
The day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supervision & responsibility of the café including monitoring hygiene standards, staff training and all day-to-day operations of the kitchen and front of house.
  2. Undertake and lead a team in the preparation, cooking and service of food and drinks.
  3. Administrative work, including placing orders, cash handling, stock control and monitoring of food budgets.
  4. Checking and recording the amount, price and condition of all food/non-food deliveries and taking any necessary action required.
  5. Taking on management duties in the manager's absence.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Previous team management experience with the ability to motivate and support team members effectively.
  2. Listening and responding to colleagues, customers and suppliers' needs to achieve the best outcome and service.
  3. The ability to adapt and respond to change in a growing organisation and make decisions when required.
  4. Background in Catering & Hospitality for 1 year or more.
