Job description

Are you an Assistant Accountant looking for a new challenge?


Kameo Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the Accounts team of a renowned and established manufacturing company based in Ely for a 12-month FTC. You will be a key member of the accounts department where you will be involved in several processes, such as month-end close, monthly management and financial reporting, management information analysis and business partnering.


Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
  1. Assist with month-end tasks, including preparing/posting general ledger journals and analysing transactions.
  2. Maintain the ERP system's fixed assets register and Progress GL account, ensuring accurate asset categorisation, depreciation, and posting.
  3. Prepare P&L ledger account analysis and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  4. Assist the Financial Controller with result interpretation, schedules, presentations, and ad-hoc analysis.
  5. Compile and release daily/weekly management reports.
  6. Support the annual budgeting.
  7. Liaise with stakeholders regarding fixed asset additions being deployed.
  8. Prepare budget vs. actuals analysis.
  9. Prepare UK VAT returns and ensure correct VAT application.
  10. Support R&D tax credit claim preparation.

What you will need to succeed as the Assistant Accountant:
  1. Previous experience working as an Assistant Accountant using ERP systems.
  2. AAT qualification preferred but not essential.
  3. Good working knowledge of MS Excel skills is essential.
  4. Power BI experience is desirable. Microsoft D365 experience is adventurous.
  5. Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently as well as in a team.
  6. Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm. Hybrid working available after initial training period, 2 days working from home.
