We have an exciting opportunity for two full-time Assistant Academic Support Librarians based at London College of Fashion.

As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the development of high-quality and student-focused library services that support the academic activities of the University. You will contribute to the daily operational running of the library, which includes local frontline services and working in a functional team. You will support specified courses and programmes of study, establishing constructive working relationships with course teams and promoting access to resources, collections, and services through effective academic liaison.

You will assist in the provision of enquiry services and plan and develop information literacy sessions that encourage the use of resources and services. You will also answer enquiries in person and online, via our live chat service, ASK, and assist users with general directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of the library catalogue and electronic information resources. You will supervise and contribute to library shelving plus related activities, demonstrating an understanding of manual handling guidelines which will be required when lifting heavy items.

Core hours at this site are Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, with the expectation that you will work at least one evening a week until 6.15 pm.

There may be limited opportunities to work from home depending on operational needs.

About you

We are looking for someone with a compassionate, student-focused approach. You should have a degree-level qualification and/or relevant library qualifications and relevant experience in a library or other education or information roles.

You will have demonstrable experience of working in a library, Higher Education institution, or Information role alongside the ability to work both collaboratively, as part of a team, and independently without direct supervision. You will be a good communicator with excellent written, presentation, and liaison skills. You must also demonstrate the ability to teach information literacy skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office with good IT skills too.
