Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) is part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset Management. ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternative investments including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within product verticals and collaborate across strategies to identify portfolio-wide solutions. They also partner with other teams within ACF, and across CSG, investing teams, and wealth management teams. Professional development initiatives provide opportunities to enhance expertise across alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Firm. This specific ACF role sits with the External Investing Group ("XIG"), as part of the Vintage Strategies.

About Vintage Strategies: The Vintage Platform is Goldman Sachs Asset Management's dedicated secondary investing platform that sits within the External Investing Group. The Vintage Funds, which provide liquidity solutions to private market limited partner investors and general partner fund managers, represent a flagship of Goldman Sachs' alternatives franchise, with leadership in the secondaries space since 1998. Since inception, the Vintage Funds have raised nine globally diversified secondary funds and four strategy-specific vehicles, having invested over $75bn across more than 700 secondary transactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Principal Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Product Specialist within Vintage, individual would be responsible for helping to drive commercial strategy, capital formation & client engagement initiatives for the Vintage Platform. This involves leading the launch(es) of new flagship fundraises, management of fundraise strategy, and ongoing business development for various Vintage funds/products across regions and client channels. Additional responsibilities include ability to:
  • Effectively articulate to internal and external stakeholders the Vintage investment strategy and the role secondaries plays within an investor's portfolio.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across ACF, Sales and the firm to execute go-to-market strategies for Vintage funds, define target investor base(s), track fundraise progress towards stated goals / KPIs, and coordinate on annual meeting preparation and conferences/events.
  • Lead development of marketing content and define strategic direction for Vintage funds/products.
  • Lead and direct client due diligence processes, from initial engagement to legal documentation and negotiations; involves close collaboration with legal colleagues to drive terms and manage side-letter negotiations.
  • Development of strategic proposals for institutional clients investing via Fund-of-Ones/SMAs alongside flagship fundraises.
  • Frequent client engagement/meetings, and potential for business travel.
  • As a senior member of the Vintage product strategy team, individual would work closely with junior members of the team and would be expected to help guide/direct response to various client inquiries, including due diligence requests, participation in RFPs, performance and data analyses, ongoing reporting, and requests for portfolio updates, amongst other ad hoc client requests and projects.
  • Coordinate closely with investment team and other internal stakeholders such as legal, risk management, operations, compliance, controllers, and tax in order to inform portfolio management and fund structuring through a client lens and effectively respond to inbound investor requests and inquiries.
  • Respond to questions internally from senior management and sales channels related to Vintage funds and the secondaries platform.

Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years in a similar or related role.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in private markets fundraising and investor relations.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead global fundraising campaigns and manage existing investor relations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to help direct/manage production of a high volume of quality work across team within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Attention to detail-proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy.
  • Willingness and desire to train and mentor junior members of team, as well as contribute to and foster a positive and motivating team environment.
  • Candidate must be a team player and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on more responsibility over time.
