Aspiring Clinical Psychologist LSA

We are a secondary/post-16 learning centre for young people with Autism and associated communication and trauma needs, based in the heart of the community in Leatherhead. The school has a brand new state-of-the-art conversion with fit-for-purpose facilities that meet the individual needs of the pupils. With that in mind, it’s a really exciting time to join. The school has close links with other schools in the community and forms part of a larger group of specialist school settings.

The purpose of the LSA role is to embed the Gatsby Good Careers Benchmarks into the school, ensuring that all students are prepared for the next stage in their education, employment, or training.

Hours and Salary

* 40 hours per week, term time only, 8.30am-4.30pm, flexibility within these hours is essential and you are required to work until 5pm one day a week for staff training and meetings.
* £24,652-£26,904 per annum (actual salary) – depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure that every student has appropriate careers guidance, from Year 7 and above, escalating to include external careers advice from the end of Key Stage 3.
  2. Work with The Careers and Enterprise Company to track and review the school’s progress towards the Gatsby Benchmarks, including using the ‘Compass’ tool for that purpose.
  3. Lead the school’s careers programme.
  4. Report termly and annually to Governors on the school’s progress towards the eight Gatsby benchmarks of good careers provision.
  5. Ensure student encounters with a broad range of local employers and employees, locally and nationally.
  6. Lead additional programmes to ensure that students can confidently apply and interview for their first role and to support them to understand how to overcome challenges in their first role (Applications, CVs, interview techniques, conflict at work, appropriate vocabulary for predictable conversations in the workplace).
Requirements and Application Process
  1. The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
  2. GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  3. Career guidance qualification recognised by the CDI is desirable but not essential.
  4. Team TEACH Education and Training - desirable.
  5. A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine desire to work with students that have additional learning and behavioural needs.
