ASME Code Fitter/Welder

Job Description:

Schmidt Industrial Services LLC is looking for an ASME Code Fitter/Welder to join our team in Chester, PA. The role will be responsible for supporting the fabrication of heavy gauge code storage tanks and vessels that support numerous industries including oil and gas, energy, chemical manufacturing, confectionery (primarily chocolate) production, and waste/waste water industries.

Requirements:

• Ability to replace consumables on both MIG and TIG torches and determine if the machine is operating properly. Keep the welding machine clean.
• Ability to adjust controls for volts, amps, wire speed, etc.
• Ability to choose correct filler metal for the job.
• Notify the leader when welding supplies are low.
• Know how to read and use weld gauges.
• Understand weld symbols.
• Determine required weld size prior to welding; if not provided, ask supervisor or review drawing.
• Produce quality welds in both MIG & TIG, able to pass visual, PT, MT and/or X-ray testing.
• Grind/remove scale, if necessary, prior to welding.
• Remove any spatter/pimples that are produced.
• Keep the area neat and clean.
