Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

The Defence Explosive Munitions Search (DEMS) Training Regiment delivers several bomb disposal, ammunition and search themed training courses. These courses are delivered to students from across Defence, civilian bodies, as well as to international partners around the world. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a mixed environment with Civilians, Military and contractors enabling methodology and shared experiences.

We're looking to recruit a friendly, well-organised and adaptable person to work alongside other civilians and military personnel, providing an invaluable contribution to the delivery of training for bomb disposal operators. The Storekeeper role is diverse but will initially focus on accommodation with key responsibilities for transacting accounts and practices which are subject to annual self-assessment and periodic inspection from audit teams. However, broader stores experience will be gained once the accommodation element is mastered.

The role is hands-on and business facing, therefore there is an expectation to be on site for most of the working week.

Job Description

A great teammate, the successful candidate will be able to work closely with their civilian and military colleagues, as well as managing their own time effectively.

The Storekeeper is responsible to the Senior Storekeeper and Stores Manager for:

  • Ensuring that the accommodation is handed over and taken over in a clean and tidy state, facilitate bedding changes, room preparation and manage the damages report
  • Some transaction work on the Army stores accounting system
  • Room and block allocation with a degree of planning factoring in age and gender
  • The control, accounting and serviceability of all stores and accommodation on their charge in accordance with current regulations

The post is located within the Logistics Department at the Headquarters within St Georges Barracks, Bicester Garrison. Sometimes you will need to visit our second site in Kineton where transport will be provided.

Person Specification

The Successful Candidate Will Work With Limited Supervision, Within Prescriptive Stores Accounting Procedures And Inspection Protocols; Training Will Be Offered In These Areas. We Are Looking For a Candidate With:

The driving licence requirement is essential due to the location and nature of the role.
