Job description

Purpose of Role: The principal responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Area Manager will be to provide an interface with key target customers specifically in Ophthalmic IOLs (intra-ocular lenses).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop relationships with key customers into lasting business partnerships.
2. Business planning and implementation throughout area of responsibility.
3. Development of new business opportunities and determination of new client and market potential.
4. Implementation of new product launches and other corporate activities within area of responsibility.
5. Presenting, demonstrating and securing orders. Seeking out opportunities.
6. Assisting customers with clinical, technical and commercial enquiries.
7. Systematic collection, presentation and interpretation of market and competitor information.
8. Provide feedback on customers, promotional programs and environmental changes and provide ideas to improve product and company performance in the marketplace.
9. Attendance at relevant conferences and meetings.

Requirements:

1. A proven track record in sales of at least 3 years.
2. Medical Sales would be an advantage but not essential.
3. Comfortable working in operating theatres.
4. Target-driven with an ability to 'close' sales.
5. Good communication ability to communicate well and deliver a positive image of the company and its products.
6. Excellent organizational and planning skills are a prerequisite for this role as is a high reliance on personal drive and initiative.
7. Commercially aware with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and an ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
8. Practical experience in dealing with complex medical device technologies within a clinical background.
9. Excellent interpersonal skills and persuasive personality.
10. Proficient in MS and industry-specific applications.
11. Full, clean driver's License.
