Job Title: Area Sales Manager - Construction Plant & Tool Hire

Area to be covered: North East to East Midlands - based near West Yorkshire

Remuneration: £42,000 Neg. + 10% Bonus

The role of the Area Sales Manager - Construction Plant & Tool Hire will involve:

1. Field sales role, selling a distributed range of construction plant & tool hire, predominantly small plant such as mixers, saws, trench rammers etc. (huge portfolio) also selling excavators, dumpers, dozers and telehandlers etc.
2. 80% construction plant sales, 20% groundcare equipment
3. Selling into plant hire companies who supply to building contractors, main contractors, housebuilder developers, archaeologists and waste/ recycling contractors as well as smaller independent plant companies and groundcare contractors
4. Often used as an infill distributor when usual suppliers come up short
5. Reasonable for an area only available due to a retirement
6. £6-8m ledger, currently performing just below budget (mainly due to the market)
7. Responsible for approx. 150 plant hire customers on patch, each with an average turnover of £10,000, but can be £50,000+
8. Technical role, need to understand mechanics, tools etc.
9. Multiple customer sites visits daily

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager - Construction Plant & Tool Hire with:

1. 2-3 years proven track record of construction field sales success
2. Construction hire industry experience preferred
3. Open to plant hire, tool hire, groundcare hire such as landscaping products
4. Will also consider builders merchant experience, either having worked for or sold into merchants and distributors as well as other plant hire companies
5. Preferable some formal sales training
6. Mechanically minded
7. Looking for a career move and longevity
8. Specific knowledge of mixers, saws, trench rammers etc is not essential
9. Contacts within plant hire companies may be useful
10. Physically fit
