Area Relief Multi Skilled Operative

Are you an experienced and dynamic Multi Skilled Operative looking for your next position?

We are currently looking for an Area Relief Multi Skilled Operative based primarily at our Elstow plant in Bedford, alongside providing relief cover to other Asphalt plants within the region for which transportation will be provided. Reporting directly to the Plant Supervisor, the Multi Skilled Operative will work on the day-to-day operations driving mobile plant and other site duties, working with the team to the site plan, ensuring that stocks are maintained and replenished in good time.

Main Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as the Area Relief Multi Skilled Operative will include (not exhaustive):

• Operating Mobile Plant on site
• Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers receive good quality material and on-time deliveries
• Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
• Following SHE policies and procedures
• Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
• Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
• Inspections on the plant, acting on defects and implement remedial action
• Ensuring that plant availability is maximised
• Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard

The role is a shift position so you will be required to work a set shift pattern, with overtime when available, to meet with the area’s production needs.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of an Area Relief Multi Skilled Operative, the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

• Knowledge of Plant
• IT Literate
• Shovel License – highly desirable
• Good Timekeeping – flexible as to the site requirements
• Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
• Previous experience in mobile plant operations
• Full UK manual car Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points

Previous experience working in an Asphalt / RMX / Plant / Quarry / Industrial Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.

The role is based at our Elstow Asphalt Plant, close to Bedford in Bedfordshire. The plant is easily accessible via most major road networks and commutable from Bedford, Kempston, Cranfield, Sandy, Milton Keynes, St Neots, Rushden, Letchworth Garden City, Bletchley, Northampton, Luton, Stevenage, and Wellingborough.
