We are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced Area Catering Manager to join our team at Transport for London, Baker Street, 15 – 17 Allsop Place, London to oversee the operations of our catering services in a designated area. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for service excellence, and the ability to drive operational performance.
As the Area Catering Manager, you will be accountable for the day-to-day management, coordination, and control of all contract activity within your designated area. You will lead and inspire a team of Site Managers and site teams to deliver exceptional service while maintaining strict budgetary control.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations across multiple sites, ensuring smooth coordination of all activities.
- Drive growth and maintain budgetary control to meet both client and commercial expectations.
- Provide effective leadership to Site Managers and teams, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
- Build and nurture long-term, profitable client relationships while actively seeking new business opportunities.
- Maintain strict adherence to all company, legislative, and contract compliance requirements across your designated sites.
- Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and environmental standards are consistently met.
- Monitor performance against contract KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage a total turnover of £ million and report on P&L and key financial metrics.
- Ensure that all internal and external audits are passed with flying colours.
- Lead the team to maintain high employee engagement through regular team briefs, appraisals, and performance management activities.
- Actively support the development and growth of service offerings in line with client expectations.
- Participate in training and development initiatives to continually enhance personal and team performance.
- Be a proactive 'on-call' duty manager and provide weekend cover as required.

What you bring:
- Proven experience managing catering teams across multiple locations.
- Strong leadership, client relationship management, and communication skills.
- Solid financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L.
- IOSH Managing Safely certified.
- Broad knowledge of catering, retail operations, and legislative requirements.
- Experience in managing risk and ensuring compliance in service operations.
- Proficient in financial systems.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships in a matrixed delivery environment.
- Experience in developing profitable client relationships and driving business growth.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
- Experience in a standards/compliance-driven environment.
