We are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced Area Catering Manager to join our team at Transport for London, Baker Street, 15 – 17 Allsop Place, London to oversee the operations of our catering services in a designated area. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for service excellence, and the ability to drive operational performance.

As the Area Catering Manager, you will be accountable for the day-to-day management, coordination, and control of all contract activity within your designated area. You will lead and inspire a team of Site Managers and site teams to deliver exceptional service while maintaining strict budgetary control.

What you’ll do:

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations across multiple sites, ensuring smooth coordination of all activities.
2. Drive growth and maintain budgetary control to meet both client and commercial expectations.
3. Provide effective leadership to Site Managers and teams, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
4. Build and nurture long-term, profitable client relationships while actively seeking new business opportunities.
5. Maintain strict adherence to all company, legislative, and contract compliance requirements across your designated sites.
6. Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and environmental standards are consistently met.
7. Monitor performance against contract KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
8. Manage a total turnover of £ million and report on P&L and key financial metrics.
9. Ensure that all internal and external audits are passed with flying colours.
10. Lead the team to maintain high employee engagement through regular team briefs, appraisals, and performance management activities.
11. Actively support the development and growth of service offerings in line with client expectations.
12. Participate in training and development initiatives to continually enhance personal and team performance.
13. Be a proactive 'on-call' duty manager and provide weekend cover as required.

4. Achievement of unit audit scores and compliance KPIs

6. Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental compliance

What you bring:

1. Proven experience managing catering teams across multiple locations.
2. Strong leadership, client relationship management, and communication skills.
3. Solid financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L.
4. IOSH Managing Safely certified.
5. Broad knowledge of catering, retail operations, and legislative requirements.
6. Experience in managing risk and ensuring compliance in service operations.
7. Proficient in financial systems.
8. Ability to build and maintain relationships in a matrixed delivery environment.
9. Experience in developing profitable client relationships and driving business growth.
10. Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
11. Experience in a standards/compliance-driven environment.
