Job description

RGP are looking for an experienced Architect or an Architectural Technologist with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, strong Revit skills and a working knowledge of retail, industrial and mixed use commercial projects.

We are a well-established medium-sized London-based practice, with a varied portfolio of work across a diverse range of commercial sectors. We are a close friendly team of hands-on Directors, Architects and skilled Technicians. Your role requires that you take on responsibility for projects from start to finish, including preparing drawings and specifications, working collaboratively with a director. For some projects, you will be required to liaise directly with clients, consultants and contractors; or on others working collaboratively within an in-house team.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working on numerous projects at all stages from inception to completion
  • Preparing designs and submission for planning approval, building regulation consent
  • Ensuring CDM requirements are satisfied
  • Preparing detailed designs, working drawings and NBS specifications
  • Overseeing projects on site including site inspections
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the latest statutory building legislation
  • Ensure that the running of the project is kept within set financial goals and deadlines
  • Working alone or within a small team as projects require
  • Reporting to the Director on project progress
  • Many projects are outside of London and will require travel.

Required Skills & Experience for Architect/ Architectural Technologist

  • RIBA Part III Qualified, ARB registered, Architect or a CIAT qualification, or a university degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ UK work experience in a building design capacity, including extensive experience of production information on a range of projects
  • Good Design and presentational skills
  • An understanding of working on commercial buildings
  • Experience of working on contemporary new and refurbishment design and build projects
  • Experience of working through a variety of RIBA stages
  • Able to demonstrate a practical approach and experience of construction detailing
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations
  • Good IT skills and working knowledge of Office 365, NBS Chorus and AutoCad/Revit; Microstation skills would be advantageous.
  • Have a friendly approach and a willingness to work as a team player.

  • Applicant must be based in the UK and be able to show evidence of eligibility to work in the UK
  • A driving license would be advantageous

Our office is located close to Grays Inn Square and Holborn/Chancery Lane tube stations. We are a family friendly practice and are fully set up for remote working and can discuss flexible working hours if this is suitable.
