Job Overview:

The AMHP will be responsible for conducting Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments, managing risk, and ensuring legal compliance in mental health interventions. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role involves safeguarding, crisis intervention, and supporting individuals experiencing acute mental health distress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Mental Health Act assessments and make legal determinations for compulsory treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, police, and medical professionals.
  • Manage risk and crisis situations, ensuring appropriate interventions.
  • Advocate for service users' rights, ensuring person-centered care.
  • Safeguarding responsibilities, including risk management and protection planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983, Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records in line with legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker/Nurse/Occupational Therapist with AMHP status.
  • Social Work England/NMC/HCPC registered.
  • Experience in mental health services, crisis intervention, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of Mental Health Law and Safeguarding Procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making and communication skills under pressure.
