Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Approved Mental Health Professional to join their Devon AMHP Service. This full-time role involves working 37 hours per week, primarily office-based at Wonford Hospital, with the potential for part-time arrangements. The ideal candidate will hold a recognised AMHP qualification and have experience in making MHA triage decisions. Job description

iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting an Approved Mental Health Professional to work for our client in Devon and surrounding areas.

We seek an experienced, locum Approved Mental Health Professional to join our Devon daytime AMHP Service.

The post is full-time (37 Hours per week), Monday to Friday. However, consideration may be given to part-time working. You will preferably hold an existing approval, but if not, you will have a portfolio ready to present for approval by Devon.

It is essential that you are able to travel throughout Devon in order to fulfil your duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation. You will also need to have experience in taking MHA triage decisions at the point of referral, and will be encouraged to further develop your s13(1) MHA consideration skills within a supportive duty environment.

3 month temporary cover.

The candidate will be required to work at Wonford Hospital.

Office based community working and must be in area when on shift.

You will need to hold a recognised AMHP qualification and hold a recognised qualification in:

  • Social Work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • First Level Nursing (mental health or learning disability)
  • Psychology
  • Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body (Social Work England, The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Nursing and Midwifery Council)

The Devon AMHP Service is recognised as a national example of good practice and has been involved in the development of the AMHP National Service Standards and other initiatives related to the role. We are constantly seeking ways to improve our service, including how best to capture and utilise the voices of those that have experience of being assessed under the Mental Health Act and to further improve practice for the benefit of those who come into contact with our service.
