Procurement Apprentice - Trainee Procurement Co-ordinator

Full time, permanent

Hours: 8.30am-5.30pm

Start: ASAP

Minimum Requirements: GCSE X4, A LEVELS also preferred

Interview Process: 2 stage interview

Training: 1 day college/online course

This role is within the construction industry, specifically in the commercial team. The successful candidate will support their Level 3 Procurement Apprenticeship (CIPS), with opportunities to progress to Level 4 and 6.

The Trainee POC role will involve closely following the guidance of senior colleagues and the Commercial Director. The full job description below outlines the duties required. Once the trainee qualifies to CIPS level 3, additional responsibilities will be assigned in line with skill set competency levels. Levels 4-6 will then be mapped out for the training period.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the buying gains document issued by the QS and report costs for materials and resources.
  2. Sourcing and negotiating purchasing materials, plant, and specialist services within budget.
  3. Assist in improving margins with new suppliers.
  4. Support change management throughout the project duration by collaborating with suppliers in reviews with PMs and DMs.
  5. Manage and update the delivery of materials.
  6. Assist with VE exercises with PM, QS, and OPMs to reduce costs while remaining spec compliant.
  7. Review the buying gains sheet with the QS to understand procurement requirements for the project and work within set budgets.
  8. Regularly review project costs against the project buying sheet and resolve any problematic invoices with suppliers to ensure timely payment processing.
