Victor - Underwriting Assistant Apprentice

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Underwriting Assistant Apprentice. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry while working alongside experienced underwriters. You will learn the fundamentals of underwriting, risk assessment, and policy management, contributing to the overall success of our underwriting team.

We will count on you to:

  • Assist underwriters in evaluating insurance applications and assessing risks by gathering and analysing relevant information.
  • Support the preparation of underwriting documentation, including policy proposals, endorsements, and renewal notices.
  • Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring that all information is up-to-date in the underwriting system.
  • Maintain accurate records of policies, endorsements, and claims, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify details related to applications.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support underwriting decisions, including market trends and competitor analysis.
  • Assist in the review of policy terms and conditions, ensuring they align with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely processing of applications, including prioritizing tasks based on urgency.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and industry regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to contribute to continuous improvement within the underwriting team.

What you need to have:

  • Previous experience within a client/customer facing role, this can be gained from within a similar role or working in environments such as (but not limited to) retail, hospitality, food & beverage etc.
  • 5 GCSE’s at Grades 9 – 4 (including English & Maths).
  • Right to Work in the UK or Republic of Ireland (no visa sponsorship provided).
