Job Summary

What You'll Do at Work

  1. Dive deep into the realm of Security Engineering, where you will install, commission, and maintain electronic systems that protect individuals, homes, and properties.
  2. Master the art of installing and maintaining cutting-edge systems, including intrusion detection, CCTV systems, and access control.
  3. Our team primarily focuses on large installation projects, which typically take 3-6 months to complete.
  4. Gain invaluable experience across both the installation and service teams as part of this role.
  5. Hit the road with your own company van, traveling daily to client premises, where each day brings new challenges.
  6. Work closely with your dedicated team, absorbing essential skills to become a qualified security engineer.

Where You'll Work

You will travel within the Reading to Central London Region and surrounding areas.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Fire emergency & security systems technician


Your Training Plan

Enrol in a Level 3 Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician qualification delivered by Banham Academy alongside fellow Johnson Controls apprentices.
Engage in block release basis training and receive on-the-job guidance from experienced mentors and engineers.


Requirements / Essential Qualifications

  1. GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 5) - essential
  2. GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade 5) - essential
  3. Full Driving License - essential
  4. You will go through a detailed, thorough security clearance process due to the nature of customers. A clean background and evidence of this is required.

Desired qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in IT (Grade 5) - desirable. Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have, as they can adjust the apprenticeship to match your current knowledge.

Other Requirements

What's Next?

Suitable candidates will be contacted via email to provide their evidence of required certifications. Once we receive the evidence of certification you will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre, where you will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview. Candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can expect to begin the apprenticeship with Johnson Controls in the late summer of 2025.
