About Our Team:

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Environmental Team in our Leeds office, we are looking to increase our technical workforce and are seeking to recruit an Apprentice Project Manager to join our EIA Team for a July 2025 onwards start with a view to enrolling with a training provider and commencing external training September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in environmental consultancy, gaining valuable work experience and developing technical skills mentored by professionals within our established and successful consultancy.

This role will sit within Impact Assessment Practice Area (IAPA) which is part of the Environment and Sustainability business providing environment and sustainability solutions for public and private sector clients and is at the forefront of efforts to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergencies. It comprises the following practice areas: Acoustics; Air Quality; Ecology; Geospatial & Data Services; Heritage; Landscape; Water Environment; Impact Assessment; Planning; Climate Change, Sustainability & Resilience; Stakeholder Engagement; and ESIA & ESDD (international environment and sustainability work).

Our IAPA work includes:

  • Coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a wide range of infrastructure development projects, helping them to gain development consent.
  • Working with clients and design teams to identify environmental constraints, avoid impacts and develop solutions, as well as delivering benefits where possible.
  • Coordinating the preparation of environmental assessment reports.
  • Post-planning consent support to projects (including during project construction and operation).

Here's what you'll do:

As an Apprentice Project Manager, you will be required to support a team of Environmental Practitioners.

Responsibilities will also include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting project directors, managers, and wider project teams in the delivery of projects, including environmental impact assessments.
  • Supporting on the governance and financial control of Projects.
  • Supporting on project change control.
  • Stakeholder and communications management.
  • Estimating, Planning and Scheduling.
  • Procurement and Contract Management.
  • Risk Management.
  • Quality Management.
  • Attendance at and participation in project team meetings, client meetings and internal meetings, including training sessions.
  • Prioritising tasks and meeting commitments on an ongoing basis and taking ownership and responsibility for the completion and quality of work.
  • Ensuring health and safety issues are embedded in project delivery from the outset.
  • Becoming an integral and valued member of the Environment team.

This position is ideally suited to either school leavers or individuals looking to make a career change. Prior experience of working in environmental consultancy is not necessary; however, to be accepted onto the Leeds Trinity University Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship, you will need to meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  • Apprenticeship candidates will typically have a minimum of 120 UCAS points (or equivalent). This would typically be at least three A levels at Grades A*-C including Mathematics and Physical Science or their equivalent or will have completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in a similar field.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (or Scottish Standard Grade or Junior Certificate in Ireland) at grade 'C/4' or above, including Mathematics & English.
  • Must hold a level 2 qualification in English Language and Maths Grade 4/C or above.
  • Demonstrate an interest in and a desire to pursue a career in the environmental sector.
  • Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
  • Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organize parts of projects.
  • English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports.
  • Able to carry out occasional remote working.

Desirable but not essential:

Full UK Driving Licence.
