Our apprenticeship scheme is run in partnership with a leading provider, Barnsley College, to ensure you are fully supported through a high-quality training programme. You are expected to complete the care certificate during the programme. You will be expected to fulfil the role and responsibilities by the end of the training period, and a development plan will be put in place by your line manager confirming the competencies they expect you to develop during that time. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress to an equivalent band 3 as a Health care assistant with a qualification of Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support.
An enhanced DBS check will be performed by the practice ahead of the post holder's start date.
Working under the nurse team, the post holder will deliver routine clinical and non-clinical duties including patient treatment and care. The level 3 HCA will be taught how to provide care following policy, procedures and protocols, as well as exercising autonomy on non-complex decisions. HCAs may also provide supervision to more senior staff members. Tasks may include clinical activities like taking bloods, sorting patient samples, restocking clinical equipment, chaperoning and supporting our nursing team with complex patient activities. Please note you may have to conduct patient home visits to provide patient care.
