Apprentice Employment Law Assistant - Birmingham

Job Title: Apprentice Employment Law Assistant
Salary: £26308 Annually
Location: 24 Parklands, Parklands Court, Birmingham Great Park, Rubery B45 9PZ
Reporting to: Employment Law Co-ordinator
Hours/working pattern: 40 Hours per week - Monday to Friday

We have an exciting Apprenticeship opportunity working within our in-house Employment Law Team! As an Apprentice Employment Law Assistant, you will be providing administration, coordination, and other legal support services to our in-house Employment Law Team, while learning and developing skills to assist with case management and drafting of associated documents. Alongside your role, you will have time allocated to work towards completing the L3 Paralegal Apprenticeship. Please note, due to contractual requirements successful candidates will be required to be aged 18+.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Employment Tribunal processing & administration including new file creation, obtaining documents from internal stakeholders, allocation of claims, diary management, bundle creation and pagination, and other related tasks as required.
  2. Administration assistance for Early Conciliation matters as required, including alternative point of contact for ACAS and allocation of cases in the absence of the ELC.
  3. Maintenance of the central case database ensuring all new ET and EC cases are logged and updated regularly via weekly updates from the EL team.
  4. Processing of UK&I whistleblowing reports including allocating new cases to the ER Specialist team, updating and closing cases in line with Group requirements and ensuring any issues, non-compliance matters, or high-risk cases are escalated to the ELA as required.
  5. Processing of Subject Access Requests in line with GDPR requirements.
  6. Processing of Helping Hands applications.
  7. Processing of signed COT3 and Settlement Agreements ensuring compliance with associated terms.
  8. Maintenance of the central team mailbox ensuring ad hoc email queries are answered or diverted accordingly.
  9. Ad hoc assistance to the EL and wider HR teams as required.

The type of skills we look for in an Apprentice Employment Law Assistant are:

  1. Experience of Microsoft Office including Teams, Outlook and Excel.
  2. Self-motivated with an ability to effectively plan, prioritise, and organise own work.
  3. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  4. Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  5. Knowledge of HR procedures is desirable but not essential.
