Job Summary

We are recruiting motivated, caring and compassionate individuals for the role of Apprentice Clinical Support Worker for our Adult clinical areas at our Wharfedale Hospital. This full-time (37.5 hours per week) apprenticeship is undertaken within an eighteen month fixed-term contract, and provides an ideal opportunity to begin your healthcare career at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Part time hours can be considered, but you would need to work a minimum of 30hrs per week.

You will be required to work long days over 7 days a week (Monday to Sunday) and will include some bank holidays.

07:00-19:30 hrs (long day)

07:30-20:00 hrs (long day)

Main duties of the job

As an Apprentice Clinical Support Worker at Wharfedale, you'll learn how to provide patients with essential care, helping them with washing, dressing, eating, moving around or using the toilet. Over the 18-month programme, you'll make our patients' time here more comfortable and will become a valued part of the nursing team.

Spending most of your time on a single ward or clinical area, you'll work with doctors and nurses, observing things like blood pressures and changes to weight and temperature. It's about giving you experience to equip you for whatever comes your way. There will also be coursework and practical assessments so you can demonstrate your learning.

Additional Essential
  1. You must be eligible to study for an apprenticeship to be successful.
  2. Must be able to meet the government criteria for apprenticeship funding:
  3. UK National or resident in the UK for at least 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship
  4. Must not already hold the same, or a very similar, qualification
  5. Be able to work at a Level 1 in English and Maths (equivalent to grade D or grade 3)
  6. This check is done as part of the recruitment process.
