Applications Engineer

Job Title: Applications Engineer / Technical Support Engineer / Sales Support Engineer / Technical Engineer

Location: Gateshead

Overview: A distributor of industrial automation products is seeking an Applications Engineer / Technical Support Engineer / Sales Support Engineer / Technical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a background in factory/industrial automation and hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal (Total Integrated Automation) PLCs, HMIs, VSDs (Variable Speed Drives), and industrial networking.

This role is suitable for someone looking to transition from hands-on work to a technical support position.

Package:

• £35,000 - £40,000

Responsibilities:

1. Provide prompt, accurate support on factory automation solutions, including Siemens TIA Portal, PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, electrical control gear, networking, and cybersecurity.
2. Assist the sales team with technical expertise during customer engagements, system configurations, and solution proposals.
3. Help customers apply and integrate automation products into real-world scenarios, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
4. Work closely with internal teams such as sales, engineering, and product management to meet customer needs.
5. Assist in preparing competitive, accurate sales quotations tailored to customer requirements.

Working Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Requirements:

1. Experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Technical Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Advisor, or similar roles.
2. A hands-on background or sales/technical knowledge of electrical control and industrial automation products, including PLCs and Siemens TIA Portal, is essential.
3. Experience in a hands-on role within automation looking to transition to a technical support role would be considered.

Commutable to site based in Gateshead.
