The Application Engineer serves as the 'technical champion' for both internal and external customers. This role works closely with the Sales team to support customers with their sanitary pumping requirements and to resolve technical issues. The Application Engineer is responsible for selecting, quoting, troubleshooting, and promoting the organisation's sanitary pumps and fluid management products to domestic and international sales channels. The primary focus of this role is to support the internal and external Sales team in customer-facing activities.
Application Engineer Job Duties
Assisting customers with their technical pump requirements
Preparing product quotations to assist OEMs, end users and/or distributors
Providing technical equipment proposals and quotes for projects and customer enquiries
Participating in companywide continuous improvement and quality initiatives to support the organisation's growth and meet customer needs
Sizing and selecting suitable products from the product range, including pumps, pump accessories, valves, strainers, sight glasses, bubble traps, oil coolers, and replacement or spare parts
Collaborating with OEMs, distributors, and/or end users to identify key pump selection criteria
Identifying key product applications, product features, and new potential applications
Determining major market areas for end-user or distributor pump applications
Identifying major competitors' products and their equivalent solutions
Performing design selections for various applications and specifications
Troubleshooting challenging operational, technical, and product issues
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Mechanical engineering experience and/or degree
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in Application Engineering
Experience in manufacturing and/or equipment industries
Experience in resolving customer issues by providing appropriate technical and product recommendations
Technical product sales experience
Mechanical and electrical aptitude or training
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong customer service skills with courteous, clear, thorough, and accurate communication
Strong technical and non-technical communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge of pump construction and materials selection
Experience in pricing and preparing formal product quotations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/365
Ability to read and understand pump performance graphs, and ability to read and understand engineering drawings and electrical schematics
Ability to travel to support external sales and training efforts, which may include overnight stays
Familiarity with sales distribution channels

Salary: GBP36K-GBP44K dependent on experience
Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 (inclusive of a -hour unpaid break)
Holidays: 21 days per year plus bank holidays
