Job description

A leading engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an Application Engineer to support its sales team and drive business growth within the aerospace, oil & gas, and automotive sectors. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and commercially minded engineer with expertise in metal cutting and machining processes.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering technical support to customers and the sales team, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and developing new business. This role requires a self-motivated problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide technical assistance to end-user customers and the sales team.
2. Report on the progress of technical projects to sales and regional management.
3. Deliver technical reports and highlight cost-saving opportunities for customers.
4. Work independently to identify and develop new business opportunities.
5. Offer product training to customers and the distribution network.
6. Respond effectively to customer requirements and provide tailored solutions.

What’s Required?

1. A time-served engineer with experience in aerospace, oil & gas, or automotive industries is preferred.
2. Strong knowledge of metal cutting and machining processes.
3. A proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills.
4. IT-literate, with experience using sales and reporting software.
5. Comfortable presenting technical information to audiences.
6. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
