Applications Developer - 12-Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
Leeds, Birmingham, or Winchester
£40,000 - £45,000 DOE
1-2 days in office per week

Join a leading legal firm as an Applications Developer to join its Business Solutions team.

A great opportunity for a junior to mid-level technical professional looking to gain hands-on experience across both application support and development, within a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the customisation of off-the-shelf systems and applications, contributing to both the legal applications and development teams. Day-to-day work will include delivering MI via SSRS, automating Word documents using VB/C#, and supporting workflow enhancements across core legal platforms.

Key Skills and Experience

1. Essential (must have at least one of the following):

• Proficiency in Microsoft SSRS for reporting and dashboard creation.
• Experience in Microsoft Word document automation, including field codes, macros, and VB-based scripting.

1. Desirable:

• Familiarity with Visual Files or similar case management systems.
• Experience with SQL and basic data queries.
• Knowledge of C# or VB.NET.
• Exposure to scripting tools such as PowerShell or Visual Files scripting.
• Understanding of professional services IT environments, ideally within legal.
• Comfortable working with templates, back-end edits, and light custom development.
• Ability to interpret business needs into effective, user-friendly technical solutions.
