Animal Care Assistant - Trainee

What you'll bring to the team

Are you eager to make a difference in wildlife conservation and care? Join the Cornish Seal Sanctuary as a Trainee Animal Care Specialist and get hands-on experience in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of grey seal pups and other marine life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily animal husbandry and the care of resident wildlife, including seal pups and marine mammals.
• Contribute to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release efforts for grey seal pups in distress.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of animal enclosures, plant systems and life support equipment.
• Educate the public on the importance of wildlife conservation and the animals in our care.
• Support the team with husbandry training, enrichment, and the development of animal welfare protocols.

What You’ll Gain:

This is a full-time, 12-month contracted role, working weekends and bank holidays on a roster basis.

Qualifications & Experience

• Have or working towards an animal care qualification (or similar).
• Must be motivated, enthusiastic, and have a positive, self-starting attitude.
• Willing to live within 20 minutes of the centre.
• A genuine passion for wildlife conservation and animal welfare.
