We are hiring at Swift Referrals!

Here at Swift Referrals we are hiring an Animal Care Assistant to cover maternity leave for 6 months. The main purpose of the role will be to assist the veterinary team with basic animal care and nursing. Your main duties will include:

  1. Work under the direction of the Veterinary Nurse (VN) or Veterinary Surgeon (VS) at all times.
  2. Working at all times to ensure high standards of care are given.
  3. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout all surgical areas.
  4. Understand and adhere to the Biosecurity Policy.
  5. Completing end of day cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning task sheets.
  6. Monitor for any Health and Safety issues within the practice - and promote safe working.
  7. Stock checking all areas, and ordering via the correct methods.
  8. Answering the phone when required, and learning basic Client Care (CCT) skills to support the CC Team.
  9. To assist with the washing, storage and organization of uniform.
  10. Recycling and maintenance of the refuse area.
  11. Assistance with the management of clinical waste - to include cadavers and the associated tasks.
  12. Maintaining all client facing areas, to include - the waiting area and consult rooms.
  13. Report any equipment issues or faults to a Lead Nurse.
  14. Holding patients for blood samples and non-surgical treatments.
  15. Walking patients routinely.
  16. Theatre, Prep and X-Ray Room.
  17. Check all cupboards are fully stocked - fluids, IV lines, urinary catheters, bandage material.

About the rota and salary

You will be working 8 hours shifts, 5 days per week.

The salary will be up to £23,840 DOE.

  2. Animal knowledge and handling skills.
  3. Good communication skills within the team.
  4. Familiarity with commonly used veterinary terms.
  5. Good client care skills.
  6. Competency in the use of the computer system.
